SWEATER WEATHER

Hello, Hello!

It’s that time of year again, my favorite time of year actually. Fall is here, the leaves are starting to turn and the cool crisp morning air reminds us that things are changing. It’s officially SWEATER WEATHER… well, some days. I do still live in the Bay Area. At the end of summer I really wanted to add 2 new items to my wardrobe. A camel-colored coat was at the top of the list and has been for the past couple of years, and a cashmere sweater. I ordered a cashmere sweater from Everlane that everyone seems to rave about, but it ended up being too scratchy for me. I took it back and then decided to try on another one from J. Crew, but again, way too itchy. I almost completely gave up on the idea that I would be adding a cashmere sweater to my wardrobe, because anything around the $100 mark is just simply too itchy for me to wear. Maybe cashmere in the higher price range would be less scratchy, but I don’t have the budget for a $250/$300 sweater. I happened to stop into Banana Republic, because it was on the way back to the car one day, and they had just put out all their new winter sweaters. Not just one or two options, I’m talking at least 10 different styles in varying materials, colors and fits! I picked up at least 6 different sweaters and loved almost all of them, but definitely needed to be realistic about my choices (I can not afford 6 sweaters at one time – LOL). I stumbled upon this camel-colored silk and cashmere blend sweater and it fit well, the color was perfect and due to the silk blend it was not itchy at all. SCORE! I also figured it would be a good way to see if I would actually wear something camel-colored before taking the next step and investing in a coat that I have been wanting for years. I was able to check off the cashmere sweater from my shopping list too. After having this sweater for about an month and styling it casually with jeans, with this pleated skirt – also from Banana Republic – and paired with slacks for a more office appropriate look, I am in love. Seriously though, I think the moral of this story should be go check out Banana Republic this Fall 2018 season if you need a new sweater or two. They are killing it!
